Oil Recovery Efficiency Preoccupies Roger Kazanowski

August 26th, 2011

With the threat of peak oil crisis hanging on conventional world energy sources like a Damocles sword, it’s great to know that there are oil extraction technologies that can delay the threat long enough for humanity to develop new sources of alternative energies as well as new drilling of conventional fossil-based fuels.  Companies like Wavefront Technology Solutions, Inc serves more than 100 oil wells in several clients who now enjoy the deployment of the PowerWave waterflooding technology that effectively extends the life of oil wells for another 20-30 years at the least. Entrepreneur-technocrat and philanthropist Roger Kazanowski sits in the board as director and board treasurer and assists the company’s CEO and President Brett Davidson in promoting PowerWave to a wider client base.

While it’s common knowledge that oil wells have a limited lifespan, not many are aware that oil wells have at least two stages that define their oil extraction or recovery efficiencies. There’s the primacy recovery stage when oil naturally gushes to the surface resulting from internal reservoir pressure deep inside the earth.  This often lasts just 12-15 years and yields about 10% to 40% of the estimated oil volume in the reserve. During this time, the pressure progressively declines until there is no more pressure to push oil out.  Most oil wells today are already in this stage.  But that doesn’t mean the oil reservoir is depleted.  Oil firms need only to deploy the needed technology to restore the pressure and push oil to the surface.  The technology involves a number of options like CO2 and water injection as well as hydraulic fracturing.  It is here where board director Roger Kazanowski enters the picture by helping oil extraction firms to use the PowerWave process to boost their secondary recoveries with better cost efficiencies.

The PowerWave technology uses the same waterflooding principle to inject water in creating the well pressure to push oil to the surface. But unlike conventional waterflooding processes, PowerWave uses 2-5 times water injection rates that increase the flooding efficiency without increasing well pressures.  There are now about 100 oil wells from several companies the benefit from PowerWave, thanks to the vision and commitment of Roger Kazanowski and his executives at the Wavefront headed by Brett Davidson.  The company’s latest client is Encana Corporation, one of North America’s largest oil extraction firms based in Canada with secondary recoveries in its US operations.
